For anyone who is curious as to what went into building this site.
I purchased the web hosting plan and domain name on 12/30/2009. After a couple practice runs to test what I wanted the system to be I scrapped everything and built the site using a content management system called Drupal, it's free. At around 8:30 PM on 12/31/2009 I started configuring the system, by 11:55 PM I had everything except the user profiles system up. That took another hour of making forms. Right now that only things I have to add are forums, and some form of group chat window. That should take at most another 4 hours. Then it is a fully usable, community-enabled, scalable website, with all sorts of bells and whistles.
People sometimes ask me if I know html, and I do, I know a little php also. But I don't wast my time writing code anymore. It is the difference between being able to set up an entire modern website in a few hours, instead of a few weeks or months.
Not bad for four hours worth of work and only having to spend $70 for 2 years. It did take me some time to learn how to do this, this fast, but once the system is up and running anyone can use it pretty easily.
Happy New Years Day,
Matt
